I have been asked since the day I began making sheep, if I could make them smaller. The fur dictates the scale, so in the early days, I was too new with the process and saw no way around it. Later, I was too busy working in the scale I was familiar with to deviate. My process evolved greatly over the years and sometime after I began modifying fur and making lambs it occurred to me that smaller sheep were possible and here they are.
When choosing a sheep for your doll or nativity, imagine yourself standing in a pen with a few sheep. Depending a little on your height and theirs, their head will generally come about to your waist, so the sheep should be about half the height of the human figure. All of my measurements are from the top of the sheep’s head. As an example, the doll in the photo at the bottom of the page is 10” tall and the sheep on either side are 5 ½” tall. The other sheep in the photo are just there to show the contrast of size.
To find a sheep or dog to go with your scene, click on one of the six breeds in the photo below and it will take you to that breed’s page and from there you can choose size and position.
