Cotswold Lying Ewe with Twins on Her Back

Colin's Creatures Primitive Sheep Decor, Cotswold Lying Ewe with Twins on Her Back

Ah, that new baby smell! The head and legs are porcelain on the ewe and the lamb is all porcelain. The ewe is covered with woven mohair and the lamb's fur is wool.

All my creatures are handcrafted in my Asheville, NC studio using porcelain, castable stone and imported woven fur from the Steiff company in Germany.

Breed Description

I'm often asked if lambs actually climb on their moms and the answer is absolutely. Lambs are full of energy and will jump all over mom as well as lie down and sleep on her. I've seen three lambs standing on a ewe and two sleep on her.

The Cotswold is raised in the south midlands region of England and predates the Romans. It derives its name from the fact that is was originally housed in shelters known as "cots" and was pastured in wild, treeless hill areas called "wolds". While it is a somewhat rare breed, it is one of my most popular offerings. I really get a kick out lambs climbing on their mother and twins are even better. I can just picture them saying "get off, I was here first". What the mother would say I probably couldn't print here.
