This German Pomeranian sheep flock features black faces and legs with a heathered dark-to-light fur. This is a carving based on an autumn trip to Germany. It is more detailed than my earlier carving, and it is my first sheep with airbrushed fur. Almost all of the breeds I saw in Germany were multi-colored. Do not put in direct sunlight.

All my creatures are handcrafted in my Asheville, NC studio using porcelain, castable stone and imported woven fur from Steiff-Schulte in Germany.

The German Pommersches or by its full name, the Rauhwolliges Pommersches Landschaf) is an old domestic sheep breed from the Pomerania region.The first records of similar sheep in in the region can be traced to more than 3000 years ago. This breed is raised primarily for meat and vegetation management. -- info via Wikipedia . This is one of the first additions to the flock following my trip to Germany.
