Breed Description

The Beulah Speckled Face is a breed of domestic sheep from central Wales and have a very structure similar to the Welsh Mountain sheep. I think they are a very handsome breed, but the farmer who owned the flock that I studied said they were the dumbest breed he'd ever raised. I wish I had inquired further.

This breed is most common in Eppynt, Llanafan, Abergwesyn and Llanwrtyd Wells, it is named for its distinctly patterned black and white face, which is free from wool. Ewes, which are naturally polled, are often crossed with lowland rams such as the Suffolk, Texel or Bluefaced Leicester to breed mules, and to produce market lambs for meat. Average Beulah Speckled Face ewes weigh 52 kg (110 lb), and rams 86 kg (190 lb). -- info via Wikipedia
