Lincoln Longwool Ewe over Lamb

There are many things that I love about the Lincoln Longwool, but most of all, I adore the luxurious fur. This is from the first sheering of angora kid, so all that curl is natural. I just love the way the small lamb looks as she is emerging from her mother's enveloping fur, and I hope you do too!

All my creatures are handcrafted in my Asheville, NC studio using porcelain, castable stone and imported woven fur from Steiff-Schulte in Germany.

Size: 5 1/2" Tall

Breed Description
The Lincoln Longwool (also known as simply the Lincoln) is an old English breed known for its beautiful fur. The fur lends such character to the carving, making it one of my favorite breeds. The Lincoln is the largest British sheep, developed specifically to produce the heaviest, longest and most lustrous fleece of any breed in the world. Great numbers were exported to many countries to improve the size and wool quality of their native breeds. The versatile fleece is in great demand for spinning, weaving and many other crafts. It is now one of Britain's rarer breeds, categorized as "at risk" by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust since there are fewer than 1500 registered breeding females in the United Kingdom. --info via Wikipedia
