Lincoln Longwool Ewe Straddling Lamb

Colin's Creatures Handmade Sheep Figures, Lincoln Longwool Ewe Straddling Lamb

Perhaps nothing is cuter than a lamb tucked under its mother's safe legs. This standing ewe and lamb pair are even cuter with the slight cock of the lamb's head, as if to say, "What are you looking at?" I'm always inspired by the incredible long curly fur of this breed. I hope you are too!

All my creatures are handcrafted in my Asheville, NC studio using porcelain, castable stone and imported woven fur from Steiff-Schulte in Germany.

Size: 5 1/2" Tall

Breed Description
The Lincoln Longwool (also known as simply the Lincoln) is an old English breed known for its beautiful fur. The fur lends such character to the carving, making it one of my favorite breeds. The Lincoln is the largest British sheep, developed specifically to produce the heaviest, longest and most lustrous fleece of any breed in the world. Great numbers were exported to many countries to improve the size and wool quality of their native breeds. The versatile fleece is in great demand for spinning, weaving and many other crafts. It is now one of Britain's rarer breeds, categorized as "at risk" by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust since there are fewer than 1500 registered breeding females in the United Kingdom. --info via Wikipedia
