Welsh Mountain Family

This precious Welsh Mountain Family was inspired by a visit to Wales where I visited a farm with over 700 ewes during lambing and took photos as inspiration for my carving. It was quite remarkable, and this small but personable family feature a proud ewe and ram guarding their precious offspring.

All my creatures are handcrafted in my Asheville, NC studio using porcelain, castable stone and imported woven fur from Steiff-Schulte in Germany.

Breed Description

The Welsh Mountain is a beautiful breed which populate the mountainsides in Wales. To get photos for carving, I visited a farm with over 700 ewes during lambing - what a remarkable sight! For identification purposes they notch the sheep's ear, sometimes to the point there is very little left.
