Brillenschaf Flock

Colin's Creatures Brillenschaf Handmade Sheep Figures

Staying true to the breed, these charming white sheep feature a head with a narrow Roman nose profile, free of wool and horns. The hanging ears are broad and large, and I've carved these Brillenschaf with an air of curiosity and interest.

All my creatures are handcrafted in my Asheville, NC studio using porcelain, castable stone and imported woven fur from Steiff-Schulte in Germany.

Breed Description

The Brillenschaf is an alpine breed which was developed in the 18th century. It is closely related to the Bergamaska and was developed in breeding center in Seeland (now Slovenia). The name means Glasses Sheep because it originally had distinctive black spots on its eyes. That trait was lost on the Slovene flock, but remains in the Austrian flock.
