His work later influenced Charles Darwin and Gregor Mendel. Word of his work also reached the colonies and was of great interest to George Washington. The Leicester Longwool is known for it's long curly fur. Such a fur is not available in a woven form, so my sheep are shown recently sheered. This breed can be seen at Colonial Williamsburg.
