I like all things lamb related, but nursing lambs are the sweetest. I find it especially amusing when the lambs are a little bit older and they have to kneel down to nurse. This ewe gazes down at her growing lamb, who is on bended knee to get mama's milk.

All my creatures are handcrafted in my Asheville, NC studio using porcelain, castable stone and imported woven fur from Steiff-Schulte in Germany.

This mother and lamb are part of a collection of six mothers and babies called “My Mother is the Best” and the lamb tells why in a statement in the photograph. They’re intended to be whimsical and touching at the same time. I hope you like them. The carving uses my original Galway carving, which has slightly smaller ears.
